The Largest Floating Solar Plant in the World

Kyocera-floating-solar-power-plant A project that began in October, 2014 is taking shape at the Yamakura Dam reservoir in Tokyo, Japan.  The largest floating solar power plant in the world is being built to help reduce the environmental impact of carbon emissions.  The floating plant was developed using Japan’s abundance of water resources as compared to its less abundant land.

So, how much power will this generate?  I could throw out many numbers to confuse you, or I can just tell you it’s enough electricity to power 4,970 homes for a year.

How does Japan plan on using all this power?  This generated electricity will be sold to Tokyo Electric Power Company beginning in March, 2018.
